Needs In The Community Survey: The City of Altoona is conducting a confidential survey to identify needs in the community. The survey will also identify views on how residents feel HUD Program funds should be spent, and fair housing concerns, such as acts of discrimination or barriers which may limit the housing choices of families and individuals. The Altoona Fire Department strives to provide high quality public education to the citizens of Altoona. The risk of fire related incidents is a constant threat to the safety and well-being of our citizens. The Altoona Fire Department believes that public education plays an important role in the mitigation of this risk. Through our public education programs, we provide several services that assist the citizens of Altoona in becoming better informed on fire safety related issues. 

These services are as follows:

  • Fire station tours
  • School fire safety programming
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Supervised fire drills
  • Supervised disaster drills
  • Smoke detector installation
  • In home fire safety programming
  • Emergency action plan review
