10th Avenue Detour During Construction

10TH AVENUE DETOUR TO BEGIN MARCH 31ST
DUE TO RETAINING WALL REPLACEMENT
The City of Altoona will begin a project on Monday, March 31st 2025 to repair a portion of the 10th Avenue retaining wall that borders the Norfolk Southern Mainline. The work consists of a slope cutback, guide rail, and, a new protective fence.
A long-term detour will be in place for all thru-traffic beginning along 10th Avenue and 20th Street and ending on 10th Avenue and 22nd Street. Motorists are asked to find an alternate route of travel for the duration of the project. Residents living along the detour will have the ability to access their homes.
The project is anticipated to take approximately six weeks to complete.
